Job Description

Behavioral Development and Educational Services (BDES) and Meliora Academy are seeking an experienced Human Resources Executive to join their team. This full-time position is primarily remote, with 1 day per week on location in both New Bedford, MA and Meriden, CT. 

OUR CLIENTS  


BDES is an interdisciplinary team of child development and behavioral specialists including Clinical Psychologists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Registered Behavior Technicians, and ABA Behavioral and Instructional Assistants. They provide individualized programming and teaching based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to students with language, cognitive and emotional disabilities in a public school setting.


Meliora Academy (Meliora) is a private educational program designed to provide intensive and 

comprehensive educational services to students with autism spectrum and related disorders. Meliora’s

special education program provides students with an integrated curriculum model designed specifically to reduce the fragmented learning that often occurs with youngsters on the autism spectrum. Based on the findings of an initial comprehensive assessment, a data-based instructional curriculum is designed as part of a transdisciplinary teaching program for each individual student.


ROLE


The Human Resources Executive will have oversight of all HR functions, own key administrative and strategic responsibilities, and lead important functions such as recruiting, staffing, training and development, conflict resolution, and compensation and benefits. 


Objectives:

  • Develop and execute personnel procedures and policies and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations.

  • Development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements.

  • Oversee the administration of benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs.

  • Create and implement procedures and policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of the HR team and companies overall.

  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the recruitment process including sourcing and interviewing prospective candidates.

  • Establish a recruiting pipeline through partnerships with local educational institutions.

  • Examine, revamp, and oversee new-hire onboarding process, coordinating with other HR resources to deliver an exceptional and smooth onboarding experience.

  • Provide a dedicated, timely, and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters.

  • Provide guidance and support for supervisory staff.

  • Monitor compliance with key employee metrics such as attendance, schedule adherence and changes, and incentive programs.

  • Provide regular communication to staff including update memos, newsletters and status changes.

  • Supervise the payroll processing team.

  • Oversee communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.


CANDIDATE


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field.

  • Five to ten years proven success working in HR departments, with increasing leadership responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of US, Massachusetts, and Connecticut laws and regulations related to employment, willingness to seek further expertise of such areas.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.

  • Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.

  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS and ability to learn new technical systems, when necessary.

  • Ability to work independently with flexibility to remote and on site activities as needed.

  • Strong computer skills using Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Paychex Flex platform (or other large payroll processing system).

  • Previous experience working with payroll processing; experience with Paychex Flex platform highly desirable.

  • Ability to work effectively both with and without direct supervision in ambiguous situations requiring professionalism, judgment and tact.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to motivate a team, and lead procedural change and improvement

  • Ability to build rapport with all employees (via direct contact and using phone, video and email).

  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately.


The compensation for this role is up to $200k depending on experience.
